Use DVD Shrink freeware to backup DVD disc


There are many DVD Shrink guides on the web, which focus on how to use DVD Shrink freeware to backup DVD movies by ripping DVDs to ISO image files. However, many users of free DVD Shrink still have doubts about how to backup DVD movies to another DVD disc using this free dvd backup software.

In fact, DVD Shrink alone can not be used to backup DVD movies to another DVD disc, an ISO Burner or a powerful DVD Creator/DVD burning software which supports ISO input is indispensible to burn ISO image files (created by free DVD Shrink) to DVD disc. Below is the step-by-step guide:

Step 1. Launch DVD Shrink, open DVD files

Unfortunately, due to U.S. laws, DVD Shrink official site is not allowed to host the download link to DVD Shrink. Please use search engines to find the last version DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15.

Click on the Free DVD Shrink tab at the top of DVD Shrink, and click "OK" for the drive containing the DVD movie. You may also backup DVD movies from DVD folder on your hard disk to ISO by clicking the "Open Files" tab.

Step 2. Wait for DVD Shrink to finish analyzing your DVD

When you open a DVD for the first time, a quick analysis is performed by DVD Shrink automatically.

Step 3. Make settings and start ripping DVD movies

Choose what items you wish to leave off the backup DVD (if any) and click the "Backup!" tab. This portion generally takes 30 to 50 minutes to complete, so have patience.

Tips:

1. If you want to backup a DVD9 movie to a DVD5 disc, you'd better choose the "Reauthor" mode. Firstly, remove unwanted parts like advertisements or foreign language audio tracks to decrease the movie size. Secondly, select automatic compression mode for DVD Shrink to compress the DVD in a proper ratio.

2. DVD Shrink itself can't burn ISO image files to DVD disc. A DVD Creator like Nero is needed to burn generated ISO image files to DVD disc, but Nero alone will cost you $63.99. Another Choice is to use an ISO Burner-Wondershare DVD Copy($25.95) to burn ISO to DVD.
