Transfer Videos from Sony HandyCam to DVD

Part 1 Transfer video from Sony HandyCam Camcorder to PC

There are a few options which you can choose from to transfer Sony HandyCam video to DVD. These include Firewire/IEEE-1394 (i.LINK of Sony), USB, S-Video, or RCA connectors. The most efficient way of doing this is with an IEEE 1394 cable. A firewire cable transfers in digital so the video quality is sharper and crisper than video from an analog camcorder.

Step 1. Check out the specs of your camcorder and computer, to see the kind of connection you need to transfer video to your PC. Most Macs and some PCs come with firewire cable ports. Check for the port.

Step 2. Install a PCI card, if your computer does not support firewire so you will be able to use the firewire cable. You can buy one at an electronics store.

Step 3. Make sure the computer and the camera is on. Plug the cable into the appropriate location on your video camera, which varies on different models of camcorders. It should be labeled.

Step 4. Plug the other end of the cable into the computer in the appropriate spot. This will vary depending on the model. It will usually be located on the side or the back of the computer. Your computer should automatically detect your camcorder.

Part 2 Transfer video from Sony HandyCam to DVD

Step 1. Download and install Wondershare Video to DVD Burner

Step 2. Load videos. Launch the Video to DVD Burner program that was just installed. Click the option that reads "Load Video" to add videos you just transferred from Sony HandyCam. There will be thumbnails displayed on the left interface. The right interface allows you to view the loaded video file. Drag and drop loaded video files to storyboard below to organize slideshow.

Step 3. Convert Sony HandyCam videos to DVD. Here comes the burning step. Click on Burn button to burn/convert Sony HandyCam videos to DVD. Before that, you may select your output options: DVD disc is your choice. Also, please set the aspect ratio, etc.
